Quack - SOLD

6 x 6, oil on Raymar canvas panel
Sold~ Shelby Lee Gallery Charleston
My cousin, Stan, commented on my painting yesterday using duck talk... so I named this painting in his honor.

  1. I love these ducks. Your oils make the feathers so real. I had my mom visit your blog yesterday.

Tell me, is it true that oil painting is real messy and smelly? I one day want to try it out. Any tips for a future newbie?

  2. THANKS again, Pam!!! It's wonderfully messy and smelly ;) I absolutely love the smell of my oil paints! And, I usually get it all over my hands, so I bought some disposable gloves but I'm still getting used to wearing them. The way the oil paint "slides" took some getting used to, but I love painting with oils, and I highly recommend you try it. Here's my suggestion, go to Raymar.com and order some of their 6 x 6 canvas panels... they're inexpensive and come in packs of 10. Buy you a couple of inexpensive brushes... try maybe a 8 and a 2 flat... and a set of basic oil colors. Just play around with it and have fun. I think you'll fall in love with it... too. Hey!!! Mother's Day is just around the corner!!! (Hint, hint....)

  3. The ducks are wonderful! And of course, the rabbit is just too cool.

  4. Thanks Ralph...

You're welcome Pam... keep me posted :)

  5. Great title from Stan. Love the ducks and the rabbit is adorable too! Isn't spring time fun?
Pretty soon, I bet we'll see some beach scenes for summer :) Yea!
