Be Young Again

"Be Young Again"
5 x 7, oil on linen

I love the days when I would take my two little boys and baby girl out to the big oak tree for a picnic.  We'd eat ham sandwiches, or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and drink lemonade.  We'd go barefoot and play the listening game.  I tell them to be really quiet and then they would tell me all the different sounds they heard.  Bees, birds, horses, wind, distant cars, dogs.  I would feel young again while playing with them.  This is a painting of my daughter, now ten years old, on our quilt reading.  I wanted to capture that peaceful feeling of being young again.
